Matt Hinkley
01.09.2017–01.01.2019
Books at Rib is a small mobile bookstore initiated by Matt Hinkley, will take up an ongoing weekly residence in the gallery space of Rib. Aiming to foster a community of shared research and knowledge while adding to the growing cultural precinct of Charlois, the bookstore will present a curated selection of books—both new and second-hand—on contemporary art, design, theory and poetry.
The rotating collection will draw on a rich history of international arts publishing—sourcing rare and out-of-print titles from around the world—while also providing local access to the best of contemporary titles. Books at Rib will work with a growing list of publishers including Sternberg, Paraguay press, five hundred places, Walther Koenig, One Star Press, Karma, MIT, Semiotext(e), Idea books, BAK, If I Can’t Dance I Don’t Want to be Part of Your Revolution and more.
Alongside Rib’s own exhibition program, the bookstore will also host a concurrent series of readings, book launches and informal discussions relating to the intersection of artistic and publishing practices. The store will be open every Thursday from 2 until 6 pm or by appointment.
